Gardaí have charged two men they arrested on suspicion of being about to carry out a shooting in Dublin earlier this week.
Both men were tonight charged with three offences: conspiracy to murder, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.
The men were arrested on Monday night by armed officers from the Emergency Response Unit after a van was forced to stop on the Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot.
Gardaí said the men, aged 34 and 38, are known associates of the Kinahan crime gang.
A loaded handgun and a can of petrol were also recovered from the van in the operation, which was co-ordinated by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.
Gardaí do not believe the incident is feud related.
The two men are being detained pending their appearance in court on Monday.
